OxyMem (Ireland) has developed the OxyMem technology, a Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor which is capable of achieving up to 95% oxygen transfer efficiency in waste water treatment. OxyMem, a patented technology, does not rely on a bubble to transfer oxygen. OxyMem uses gas permeable membranes, which allow oxygen to be transferred directly to the wastewater treating bacteria. This technology is capable of achieving up to 95% oxygen transfer efficiency, as no oxygen is lost to atmosphere. OxyMem’s bubble-less aeration may reduce the operating costs (OPEX) for wastewater aeration by up to 75%.

Sansox Oy (Finland) is a relatively young company that aims to commercialize its four-stage oxidative system, Oxtube. Oxtube aerates or mixes any gas with water or any other liquid efficiently. Theoretical studies, feasibility studies and pilot cases have shown that the Oxtube oxidizes water more rapidly and energy efficient compared with exisiting systems, which may boost its market potential. The Oxtube can be applied with various treatment plants and natural water flows. Investments are relatively low. Sansox is a modular solution that can be retrofitted, easily removed, cleaned or installed in many of the stages of the water treatment process.
