The H2OforAll project is set to host its concluding in-person workshop on June 26th in Brussels, convening leading experts, researchers, and industry stakeholders to address the critical issue of Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) in drinking water and present key project findings.

The full-day event, titled “Preventive Measures and Management of #DBPs,” aims to foster in-depth dialogue on innovative preventive measures, advanced monitoring technologies, and effective management strategies to secure drinking water quality. Prof. Rui Martins, Coordinator of H2OforAll from the University of Coimbra, will open the main sessions by presenting the overall results and achievements of the H2OforAll project.

Workshop highlights include:

– Expert Presentations: Prof. Dr. Boris Mizaikoff (Ulm University) will discuss “Advanced Sensing Technologies for DBP Monitoring.” Prof. Luisa Durães (University of Coimbra) will present on “Alternative technologies to minimize DBPs.” An international perspective will be offered by Kevin Letterly (Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, USA) on “DBP Impacts and Regulatory Outlook in the United States.”

– Interactive Breakout Sessions: Participants will engage in focused discussions across six key areas: Technologies and Monitoring; Collaboration and Future Research; Risk Management; Regulation and Reporting; Control Strategies; and Stakeholder Engagement. These sessions are designed to collaboratively draft practical recommendations for policymakers, industry, and the wider water sector.

– High-Level Panel Discussion: A concluding panel moderated by Prof. Rui Martins will feature Prof. Dr. Boris Mizaikoff, Cristian Carboni (Industrie De Nora & Water Europe Expert Group), Kevin Letterly, and Liesbeth Verdickt (De Watergroep), synthesizing the day’s findings and outlining future directions.
