The MEP Water Group is proud to announce it will host a pivotal event, “Water Challenge and Opportunities: Facing the Unknown,” on Monday, 12 May 2025, from 15:00 to 18:00 CET. This timely gathering, held at the Info Hub in the European Parliament, Brussels, and organized in collaboration with the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI), will bring together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to address pressing water challenges and explore innovative opportunities. A highlight of the event will be the special presentation and projection of the film, “Facing the Unknown.”
The event will be opened by Hildegard Bentele, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the MEP Water Group, who will welcome attendees alongside Pietro de Lotto, President of the CCMI. The MEP Water Group aims to foster a comprehensive discussion on Europe’s water resilience.
A central feature curated by the MEP Water Group for this afternoon will be the exclusive screening of “Facing the Unknown” (15:40-17:00). This impactful film is set to provide a compelling narrative on the critical water issues confronting societies and the innovative approaches being developed to navigate an uncertain future, serving as a powerful catalyst for the subsequent open discussion.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by Pernille Weiss-Ehlder, Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner Jessika Roswall (Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy), and Mr. Paul Rübig, former Member of the European Parliament, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and author of “Emergency Preparedness.”
Following the film, an open discussion (17:00-17:40), moderated by Durk Krol, Executive Director of Water Europe, will delve deeper into the themes presented.
