Thon Hotel EU, Brussels, Belgium

In the Europe’s journey towards a climate-neutral and circular industrial future, water is both a critical enabler and a pressing challenge. Scarcity, pollution, and rising competition for water resources mean that industries can no longer treat water as a linear input-output factor. Instead, they must embrace circularity, turning water management into a driver of resilience, competitiveness, and sustainability.

Anchored in the Zero Pollution Action Plan, and the newly launched Water Resilience Strategy, circular industrial water use has become a policy and societal priority. It is not only about technological innovation but also about systemic transformation across value chains.

This is the rationale behind Water Projects Europe 2025 – Circularity in Industrial Water, taking place at the Winter Edition of Water Knowledge Europe. The event will bring together three flagship Horizon Europe funded projects, RESURGENCE, CORNERSTONE, and R3VOLUTION, all developed under the Processes4Planet partnership (A.SPIRE). Each of them is testing and demonstrating advanced solutions for industrial water reuse, energy and resource recovery, and pollution reduction, showcasing pilots across Europe’s strategic sectors.

The event will feature the iWAYS project—recently and successfully completed under SPIRE—as a mature example of water reuse and heat recovery in demanding industrial settings, alongside BOOST-IN as a showcase of the impact of circular economy approaches.

Water Europe foster clustering of projects to maximize impact and accelerate the uptake of results. The event is not just a showcase but a platform for dialogue and synergies, where lessons learned from individual projects converge into a broader narrative aligned with the Water-Smart Society and Economy vision. This vision promotes sustainable, secure and resilient water ecosystems that safeguard resources, boost industrial innovation, and secure Europe’s competitiveness in the green transition.

Through case studies, demonstration pilots, and a high-level panel debate, this WPE will highlight how innovation and collaboration are essential to achieving Europe’s water resilience goals.
