Water is at the heart of Europe’s environmental resilience, biodiversity protection, climate adaptation, and economic sustainability. While Europe has made significant progress towards the Zero Pollution ambition, major challenges remain in translating innovative solutions into large-scale implementation.

Organised in the framework of EU Green Week 2026, this online event will explore how Europe can better invest in nature through water systems and accelerate the transition towards a Water-Smart Society and Economy.

Bringing together experts, EU-funded projects, policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders, the event will showcase the work of the ZeroPollution4Water (ZP4W) Cluster, coordinated by Water Europe, and discuss how innovative solutions for water pollution prevention, ecosystem restoration, and resilience can move from pilot actions to real-world impact.

Through keynote interventions, project insights, and an interactive panel discussion, participants will explore:

– The role of water systems in supporting Europe’s Zero Pollution ambition and the EU Water Resilience Strategy

– Innovative approaches and solutions emerging from EU-funded projects

– Key barriers preventing large-scale implementation and replication

– Opportunities for investment, governance, policy alignment, and market uptake to scale impact.
