Every year on 22 March the World Water Day offers an opportunity to reflect on how water shapes our societies and how collective action can strengthen sustainable and resilient water management. The 2026 theme, Water and Gender Equality, invites us to look beyond technology and infrastructure and consider the social dimensions of water governance: who participates in shaping water solutions, who benefits from them, and how inclusiveness can be better integrated into water management.
In this context, the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster brings together initiatives working to address water pollution and strengthen the resilience of Europe’s water systems through research and innovation. While strongly rooted in technological and environmental solutions, many projects also engage with broader societal aspects of water management, including governance, stakeholder participation and social innovation.
