As a supporting partner of the EIP Water Conference 2019, Water Europe is getting ready for the much-anticipated event of the water sector. Back to back to the conference, Water Europe will host two side events on the 11th of December. Following up on the successful workshop held in the context of ENoLL Open Living Labs Day in September, Water Europe is now organising the workshop ‘Living Labs for a Water Smart Society’. Building on the outcomes of the September’s event, the workshop will continue the discussion on how WoLLs can effectively drive the research and the development of innovative solutions in a real environment with the proactive involvement of the water actors and stakeholders and facilitate the market outreach of innovations.
- Side-event 1: Living Labs for a Water Smart Society
Building on the outcomes of the latest ENoLL Open Living Labs Days, the Water Europe first workshop on “Living Labs for Water Smart Society” will continue the discussion on how WoLLs can effectively drive the research and the development of innovative solutions in a real environment with the proactive involvement of the water actors and stakeholders and facilitate the market outreach of innovations. The meeting intends to hold an open dialogue about the different types of sustainable water-oriented living labs, owing to the context-specific factors affecting the emergence of water problem types.
What are the WoLLs?
WoLLs (Water-oriented Living Labs ) are real-life, water-oriented and demo-type and platform-type environments with a cross-sector nexus approach, which have the involvement and commitment of multi-stakeholders (including water authorities) and a certain continuity (good chance to continue to their existence), and provide a “field lab” to develop, test, and validate a combination of solutions as defined in the SIRA, which include technologies, their integration as well as combination with new business models and innovative policies based on the value of water. There is no one single water problem type.
