The new ZeroPollution4Water cluster policy brief, “Reinforcing EU Groundwater Policy for Emerging Risks,” has been published, offering recommendations to strengthen groundwater protection and support the implementation of the Groundwater Directive (GWD).
The brief builds on the findings of the ZeroPollution4Water cluster, an initiative originating from the coalition of nineteen different European projects working to prevent groundwater contamination and protect water quality from the impacts of climate and global change. It also aims to safeguard drinking water by improving source protection, advancing monitoring and treatment solutions, and ensuring safe distribution.
Aligned with the EU’s zero-pollution ambition, the cluster promotes collaboration and synergies to develop innovative prevention and mitigation strategies, enhance risk assessment and management, and accelerate the deployment of market-ready technologies to tackle water pollution.
