Water Europe is delighted to announce that registration is now open for its highly anticipated event, “Towards a Future Water KIC,” set to take place on October 21st, 2024, at BluePoint in Brussels. This landmark event is designed to foster discussion and raise awareness around the establishment of the new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), focusing on water, marine, and maritime sectors throughout Europe.

The event aims to support the European Commission’s 2024 Water KIC call by providing a platform for dialogue on innovation and sustainability in water ecosystems, aligning with Water Europe’s mission to create a Water-Smart Society. Leaders from research, business, and education will gather to discuss critical solutions for water sustainability, resilience, and security, particularly in the face of climate change.

Participants can expect comprehensive insights into the European Commission’s vision for the new KIC, with a focus on fostering collaboration to drive water-related innovation across sectors. The event will provide unique networking opportunities with experts from academia, industry, and policy, promoting the formation of strategic partnerships and consortia for impactful projects. Attendees will hear about best practices and success stories from existing EIT KICs, showcasing how these models have catalyzed collaboration and transformative change within the water sector.

Moreover, discussions will delve into funding opportunities, focusing on EIT grants, financial sustainability, and governance models to support long-term success in water-related initiatives. Attendees will have the chance to explore potential collaborations, with presentations from emerging consortia addressing pressing water challenges and sharing ideas for the 2025 Water KIC Call for Proposals.

The event’s draft agenda includes opening remarks by Hans Goossens, President of Water Europe, and Durk Krol, Executive Director.
