A new report on shaping the digital future of Europe was adopted by the members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) in mid-April. In this report, MEPs call on the European Commission to address the challenges posed by the digital transition and focus on AI as technology that can enable and support the European public and private sectors to implement the upcoming changes.
MEPs strongly believe that AI has the potential to improve certain areas for citizens, and offer significant benefits and value in many sectors such as the environment. In the long-term, say MEPs, new technologies could help the transition to a circular and sustainable economy. This report will be debated on the 18th of May during the plenary session of the European Parliament.
