The legislative proposal discussed during an informal meeting of the agriculture ministers of the EU assigns the agriculture and forestry ambitious goals for reducing their emissions due to the carbon storage properties of soil and biomass.
This would require public financing and private founding in the context of voluntary carbon offsetting, which allow buyers of carbon credits to contribute to funding the low-carbon transition in the agriculture and forestry sectors. France’s proposal included a carbon diagnosis scheme and a low-carbon label. Also a common certification framework could be a promising avenue. Check more info here.
