Share

The first Water Knowledge Europe held outside Brussels, in the vibrant city of Warsaw, has successfully concluded, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated. Your presence and engagement over the three dynamic days made this special edition a true milestone. It was inspiring to see over 100 participants come together, reinforcing our collective commitment to building a  Water-Smart Society and advancing the Water Resilience Strategy across all corners of Europe.

Key takeaway messages:

🔸We urgently need comprehensive water management. The upcoming Water Resilience Strategy will set out a clear roadmap to start managing water better and more efficiently.

🔸Sustained investment in research, innovation, and new funding models is crucial for advancing water solutions, ensuring water security and health.

🔸Strong collaboration among diverse stakeholders is essential for co-creating effective solutions and translating research into real-world impact for water management.

🔸Leveraging data for actionable insights, strategic investments, and practical tools is key to enhancing water resource management and building climate resilience.

A big thanks to Magdalena Rzeczkowska and FPP for their exceptional support in organising and hosting this edition, and once again to Polish EU presidency for their patronage. A major highlight was the presentation of the brand-new Horizon Europe Cluster 6 and Cluster 5 Missions Work Programme 2025 by Bertrand Vallet and Frederik Accoe from CINEA, published on the very same day.

Claudia Guerrini from CINEA provided key insights into the LIFE Programme calls and Giulio Pattanaro from REA offered guidance to write a winning project proposal.

Sparking collaboration: The power of WKE’s B2B meeting

Central to the WKE experience, the dedicated B2B matchmaking sessions were, once again, a resounding success. Many promising connections were forged during 97 B2B meetings, transforming initial project ideas into the concrete beginnings of robust consortia.

Bridging Research and Policy: Water Project Europe event

The WPE side event saw projects like NEXOGENESIS and ARSINOE showcase impactful solutions for climate challenges. They presented results, case studies, and policy recommendations, highlighting how these projects can support the formulation and implementation of forward-looking water policies.

Diving deep at the WE EGs & CoPs Open Workshops

WKE2025 kicked-off with Expert Group and Community of Practice workshops covering climate adaptation, water reuse, smart management, skills, industrial resilience, and digital tech. These sessions focused on sharing real cases, solving challenges, and co-creating solutions, building on WE’s Collaboration Matrix
