Water Europe is pleased to announce its significant participation in the upcoming World Water Week 2025, the leading annual conference on global water issues organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). Our active involvement will feature the co-convening of a major three-part seminar and contributions to a high-level session on climate resilience, underscoring our commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing water challenges.
Our engagement is centered around two pivotal events:
1. Co-Convening the Seminar: “Strategic water and climate actions within planetary boundaries”
Water Europe is proud to act as an official co-convenor for this comprehensive seminar, a single, in-depth event structured across three sessions from August 24-26. The seminar will provide a deep dive into the critical intersection of water management, climate resilience, and ecological limits. It aims to identify actionable strategies in governance, resource recovery, and innovation to accelerate the transition towards a Water-Smart Society.
The seminar will feature insights from Water Europe’s leadership, including Durk Krol, Andrea Rubini and Pär Larshans who will be taking the floor to represent Water Europe’s vision and ongoing work in these critical areas.
The seminar is structured as follows:
– Session 1/3 (Sunday, Aug 24 | 14:00-15:00 CEST | Online): Setting the stage by exploring global water trends, pollution challenges, and the need for transformative solutions.
– Session 2/3 (Monday, Aug 25 | 16:00-17:30 CEST | On-site & Online): Focusing on policy, innovation, and practical case studies in nutrient management and smart cities.
– Session 3/3 (Tuesday, Aug 26 | 16:00-17:30 CEST | On-site at Room 27, Level 2): Concluding with a forward-looking agenda on shaping long-term water and climate resilience.
2. Contributing to the Session: “Accelerating Climate Action: Cross-Sector Partnerships for Water Resilience”
On Thursday, August 28, Water Europe will also contribute its expertise to a vital session focused on the power of collaboration. This event will explore how transboundary, North-South, and nexus-based partnerships can drive the innovation needed to build robust water resilience against climate change.
