With water resources in Attica Region being under significant pressure, Attica Water Lab has been established as a sympraxis of a diverse range of stakeholders – public authorities, industry, hotel associations, water and sewerage utility, academia, civil society – with the mission to promote water reuse and lead the way to sustainable water management. The Living Lab objectives are to support the drafting of the Masterplan of water reuse and its implementation in the complex and challenging case of the Attica basin, as users and enablers of a favourable environment through regulatory and financial provisions and social acceptance.
Additionally, promptly responding to water scarcity challenges, stakeholders exchange water conservation best practices and collaborate towards the adoption of resilient, evidence-based approaches. Attica Water Lab fosters an ecosystem demonstrating the valorisation of innovative solutions, such as sewer mining and digital technologies, identifying barriers to water reuse adoption and nurturing synergies at all scales to formulate relevant policy proposals and financial mechanisms. It forms a catalyst for cross-sectoral alignment to enhance the maturity of water networks for long-term water sustainability in Attica and beyond.
