Water Management Innovation (WMI) Living Lab, operated by the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), is a beacon of innovation for sustainable agricultural water management in northern climates.

Focused on the development and testing of environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable solutions, the research infrastructure with different facilities exemplifies the integration of advanced sensors and data analytics for smart water management.

By analyzing real-time data on water quality, quantity, and availability, WMI empowers farmers and businesses to make informed decisions on water use. Luke’s Research infrastructure Ruukki demonstrates sustainable water management technologies and organizes field tours and workshops for a diverse audience, including farmers, policymakers, industry professionals, and students. This engagement fosters a shared understanding and adoption of best practices in water management, highlighting WMI’s role in advancing sustainable agriculture through innovation and collaboration.
