Water Market Europe (WME) 2024, held on September 16th in Brussels, was organized as part of the EU-funded Horizon 2020 ULTIMATE Project (indUstry water-utiLiTy symbIosis for a sMarter wATer society).
The event aimed to address challenges and drive innovation by connecting demand and supply for efficient solutions in industrial and urban water management. Co-organized by Water Europe and the European Innovation Council (EIC), and supported by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), WME2024 also featured participation from CINEA for the LIFE program and DG EAC, in preparation for the future Water KIC.
This edition was opened by Anne-Marie Sassen, Head of Unit – EIC Programme Managers, and closed by Paul Webb, Head of Department, REA. WME2024 showcased cutting-edge solutions from EU-supported projects, with a focus on circular water systems. Presentations featured solutions from the SPIRE projects Aquaspice and iWAYS, as well as contributions from HydroVolta, the CIRSEAU project, H2oVortex, ICT4WaterCluster, and PYDRO. The ULTIMATE project has set new benchmarks in industrial water symbiosis and serves as a model for advancing toward a Water-Smart Society. See the full agenda.
