Last week Friday, a 1st coordination meeting of the different European water-related umbrella organisations took place in Brussels. This initiative builds on the Memorandums of Understanding, WssTP signed with these different organisations last November.
Durk Krol, WssTP director said: “The water sector is very broad, diverse and fragmented which is also reflected in the sector’s representation on the EU level. However, as we all in the end share a common goal, it is important that we join our forces where possible.”
To overcome this fragmentation, the participating organisations have taken the initiative, each from their own perspective, to improve the coordination and collaboration so that they ensure a more efficient and effective representation of the interest of the water sector on a European level.
The agenda for this first meeting included amongst others: the agendas and priorities of each organisation over the next few months, and the preparation for a joint positioning of the water sector’s priorities under the upcoming 8th legislature of the European Parliament and new EU Commission.
